Sessions Info and Fees

Adult In-Person

In-person sessions offer tailored opportunities to create, talk, and reflect with support and guidance, and are often considered more effective and engaging than online sessions given the practical nature of the work. A wide variety of art materials will be available for you to use, as well as other therapeutic resources depending on how you prefer to express. Clients are always welcome to bring their own creative materials or personal items to use in sessions if preferred.
As sessions are client-led, you will be able to explore whatever feels important or useful when you arrive for your session. Opportunities to incorporate mindfulness techniques, breathwork, meditation, or movement can also enhance the creative work, but this is up to you.

Children/Young Person In-Person

In-person sessions are available for 6-18 year olds, and adapted depending on where they fall within that range. For child protection purposes a carer or parent will be required to stay in the therapy waiting area during the session.
For younger children, sessions provide a playful and sensorily stimulating environment for them to express themselves whilst supporting healthy emotional and social development. Through creative activities and engagement children can strengthen imagination and problem solving skills, and learn to understand and manage their emotions in a safe and supportive environment.

For adolescents, sessions will provide a supportive space to explore the uniquely complex emotions and challenges experienced whilst navigating the transition from childhood to adulthood. Working through art also helps build confidence, communication skills, and connection, making it an effective approach for children and young people who may struggle to express themselves verbally.

Adult Online

Online sessions (via Zoom) provide the opportunity to engage creatively whilst in the comfort of your own space, making it more accessible for some who may have access issues, are not local to Liverpool, or find face to face sessions overwhelming. It is important that you have a private space to attend your session where you will not be interrupted, a selection of your own art materials, and room to create whilst being observed and guided by the therapist. Some clients like to angle their laptop so that the creative process can be witnessed more effectively.
As with in-person sessions, sessions are client-led and can include artmaking time, reflective discussion, and other therapeutic techniques which might be beneficial such as breathwork or meditation.

Therapeutic Groups In-Person

Periodically, 4-week therapeutic art groups focusing on specific themes or client-groups will be offered. Previously I have delivered group work centred on bereavement, domestic violence, gender identity, and for groups such as new mothers, and the LGBTQ+ community. Although not specifically art therapy, therapeutic group sessions provide a safe and supportive space to share and explore different topics with like-minded people who may have experienced similar things. Whilst being supported and guided by the therapist, group sessions offer opportunities for peer support through reflective discussion and meaningful connection.
Please see my groups page for upcoming groups and information. If there is a specific theme you are interested in exploring within a group setting please feel free to put a suggestion forward via my contact page.
